Sammo Hung, a multi-talented Hong Kong personality, has made his mark as an actor, martial artist, producer, and director in the kung fu and action film genres. He's choreographed for stars like Jackie Chan and fostered new talent in the industry. Crucial to the 1980s Hong Kong New Wave and innovator of Jiang Shi films, Hung is affectionately called "Dai Goh" or "Big Brother". He is now internationally renowned as a pioneer and trend-setter in Hong Kong action films. Hung is widely known for his role as “Martial Law” in the american TV Series of that same name.

His debut film immediately established him as a viable leading man, and Yen has remained a major figure in the Chinese and Hollywood cinema to this day, making him also one of the leading martial arts choreographers in the world of action cinema.

Hark Tsui is a New Wave film director in Hong Kong and an influential film producer. He is viewed as a major figure in the Golden Age of Hong Kong cinema (typically early 1980s to mid 1990s). Considered the master of kung-fu action films, Tsui Hark's The Swordsman (1990), Xiao ao jiang hu zhi dong fang bu bai (1991), Dragon Inn (1992) and Once Upon a Time in China (1991) created a new era and standard for the "wuxia" genre that has now become a trend in filmmaking.

The release of "Rumble in the Bronx" in the United States also contributed to Jackie Chan's rising prominence in Hollywood. Notably, Tong often tests stunts himself before involving actors to ensure their safety. In 2000, he returned to Shanghai with the aim of inspiring upcoming filmmakers in China.
